The year continues to march on and we find the finish line right upon us.
We reviewed chapter 21 all week.  Our TEZ on chapter 21 is Monday May 13th.
The study guide they received in class today is similar to last time

Please make lists as I instructed in class.

First list should be the 25 words (five from each section) you have marked in your NB voc
with a Q or a 1.

Second list should include the 8 words you marked with a T or a 2 in your NB voc and the 12 words on the study guide AND their definitions...total 20 words

Third list will be all words in your NB voc that do not have a 1 or 2 or Q or T
I came up with 13

Please don't fret if your list has one less.....I do not want you spending 30 minutes trying to figure out what word you are missing.   Just make sure you study them all.

On the study guide you should not have a problem finding the fill in blank.  They are all in the book, your packets and/or voc. except the ones below.....

VE Day... May 7 (or8th) 1945 (if you just remember month and year I'm good !!!)

VJ Day... August 14, 1945 (here again month and year is good)

U.S.S.R.....Union Soviet Socialists Republics

this is in there but a little tough to find....

1950-53 Korean War...bec communist North Korea invaded Democratic South Korea

1965-75 VietNam War...bec communist North VietNam invaded Democratic South VietNam

The Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis....1961-1962...President Kennedy and US congress avoided a nuclear war with Soviet Union

I am posting a list of items for our troops with a note from Pam Rossi, Biology teacher in our high school.  This is not mandatory please just do what you can, anything you send will be greatly appreciated.  My son has been deployed twice and says anything from home is always a morale booster and makes for a little better day.  Theresa Edwards
Dear GWA family,
I am writing to ask for your assistance with a school-wide project; preparing care packages for two Army engineer companies recently deployed to Afghanistan.  My connection to the units is that my son, John (a 2004 GWA graduate), is the rear detachment company commander for the two companies.  That means he will handle all of the problems and issues that arise stateside for these guys while they serve 9-month tours in the country.  The companies are the 40th MAC and the 595th Sapper from White Sands Missile Range, NM.  The two companies are in different regions of Afghanistan, but both are performing Route Clearance missions, clearing roads of IED's, booby traps and mines, so others can travel the roads safely.  The 40th MAC is the unit John previously deployed with as a Platoon Leader.

Chapter 15 is an exciting study of Medieval Time period.  We worked on chapter worksheet packets in class this week and have started the vocabulary.  Our class discussions about this period of time make the students aware of the "real" issues that affected their daily life such as serfdom and the Black Plague.  This is quite a big chapter and our weeks are broken up with a holiday on Monday and the exciting trip to Medieval Times on the 22nd.  The students always look forward to this trip with their class.  Our next test (Ch 15) is planned for Tuesday Feb. 26th. Have a "Gooday My Ladies and My Lords."

I am sorry my posts have not appeared this past semester therefore I deleted all my old posts and I am starting new this week.

We completed chapter 10 on Christianity a couple weeks ago and they scored extremely well on the Test as they usually do on the Christianity chapter test.

I usually update for each chapter and give dates of TESTS or Quests.  We are currently studying Ancient Africa chapter 13.  It is a short chapter and we will have a "Quest" this week, either  Thursday 2/7 or Friday 2/8.  Please check their planners if you have questions. This Quest grade will be added to the Quest points earned last week on Ancient Arabia to form a TEST grade for combined chapter 11 and 13.  (hope that makes sense)
